The UK's networks — EE, O2, Vodafone, and Three — all serve cities and towns well, with EE generally rated the strongest outside urban areas. London, Manchester, and Edinburgh are dense with 5G; the Scottish Highlands, rural Wales, and moorland are where networks separate.
For a London-centric trip any plan works, including on the Tube, where 4G/5G now covers a growing share of the network. If you're also hopping to Paris or Dublin, consider a Europe regional plan instead of a UK-only one — the price difference is often small.
Common questions
Which UK network is best for the countryside?
EE has the strongest rural reputation, followed by Vodafone. For the Highlands, Cornwall's coves, or the Lake District fells, prefer plans on EE where listed.
Is there signal on the London Underground?
Increasingly yes — many central lines and stations now have 4G/5G, with coverage still expanding. Above-ground rail is well covered.
Do UK eSIMs work in Ireland?
