Conditions d'utilisation

What esimdir is

esimdir is a price-comparison and editorial site for travel eSIMs. We index plans from third-party providers, sort them by criteria you choose, and link out to those providers when you want to buy.

What esimdir isn't. We are not a carrier. We do not sell, resell, or provide cellular service. We do not handle payment. We do not activate, provision, or troubleshoot eSIM profiles. All of that is between you and the provider you choose.

Using the site

By using esimdir you agree to a few common-sense rules. They're not negotiable, but they're short:

  • Personal use only. You can browse, search, and click through to providers for your own trips. You can't scrape the catalog or republish our data without permission.
  • Don't break things. Don't try to overload, probe, or exploit the site. Automated traffic that mimics human behavior (price-scraping bots, etc.) will be blocked.
  • Don't impersonate us. You can't claim to represent esimdir, use our logo without permission, or run an affiliate site that looks like ours.
  • Accuracy reports are welcome. If you spot a price discrepancy or broken link, email help@esimdir.com. We'll fix it — usually within a day.

Pricing and availability

We refresh provider catalogs every morning at 06:00 UTC. Prices can move between refreshes, especially around promotional events. The price you see at checkout on the provider's site is what you pay — if that doesn't match what we showed, the provider's price applies and we want to know.

Availability can change without notice. A plan that was listed yesterday may be out of stock today. We do not guarantee that any specific plan will be available when you click through.

The affiliate model

We earn commissions from many of the providers we list. Full details are in our affiliate disclosure. The short version:

  • You pay the same price whether you go through esimdir or direct.
  • We don't accept paid placement. Sort order is editorial.
  • We list providers that don't pay us when they're the best fit.
  • We've removed providers for behavior we don't condone — and would do it again.

What we don't promise

Comparison sites can't make warranties about the products they compare. Specifically, we make no guarantees about:

  1. 01

    Coverage in your specific location

Network coverage is provided by the underlying carriers. We list the networks each eSIM uses but cannot verify signal strength at your hotel.

  2. 02

    Activation success

Activation depends on your phone, your firmware, and the carrier's provisioning system. We provide guides; we cannot fix individual installations.

  3. 03

    Data speeds

Speeds vary by network congestion, location, time of day, and your phone's hardware. Listed speeds (5G, 4G LTE) are theoretical maximums.

  4. 04

    Provider service quality

We can vouch for whether a provider is listed; we cannot vouch for the experience of any individual purchase. Use the FAQ and reviews on each plan card as input.

If something goes wrong

Most problems can be solved in one of two places:

  • For provider issues (activation, refunds, plan changes, technical problems), contact the carrier directly. They have your purchase record and the technical support to help.
  • For esimdir issues (a wrong price, a broken link, a complaint about an editorial pick), email help@esimdir.com. We aim to reply within four working hours.

Your consumer rights — by region

esimdir is not the seller of any cellular plan. The carrier is. Your statutory consumer rights apply against the carrier under the law of your country. Common ones we want you to know about:

  1. 01

EU / EEA — Consumer Rights Directive

You generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal on digital services purchased online — unless you expressly consented to immediate provision and waived withdrawal at checkout, which most eSIM providers require. Disputes can also be taken to the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/odr.

  2. 02

United Kingdom — Consumer Rights Act 2015

Digital content and services must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. Remedies (repair, replacement, refund) are between you and the carrier.

  3. 03

United States — state consumer protection

FTC §5 and state consumer protection laws prohibit unfair or deceptive practices. Affiliate relationships are disclosed per FTC §255. Class-action and arbitration terms are set by each carrier in their own terms — read theirs before purchase.

  4. 04

Mainland China — E-Commerce Law & Consumer Rights Protection Law

The carrier you purchase from is the e-commerce operator responsible for product quality and after-sales service. If the carrier operates in China, an ICP filing should be visible on their site. esimdir is a foreign comparison site; we do not host servers in mainland China.

  5. 05

Hong Kong — Sale of Goods & Trade Descriptions Ordinances

Carriers must accurately describe their services. False trade descriptions, bait pricing, and aggressive commercial practices are prohibited under the Trade Descriptions Ordinance, enforced by the Customs and Excise Department.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, esimdir is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or any plan you purchase through a link from the site. Our total liability for any direct damages is capped at the commission we earned from your purchase (often €0). This sounds harsh; it is standard for comparison services. Your statutory rights against the actual carrier are unaffected — nothing here limits non-waivable consumer rights you have under EU, UK, US state, Chinese, Hong Kong, or your local consumer-protection law.

Intellectual property

The esimdir name, wordmark, editorial copy, and software are owned by esimdir Lda. Carrier names and logos belong to their respective owners and are used here under nominative fair use. You can quote and link to any of our editorial content with attribution and a link back.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced on the homepage at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Any dispute will be brought before the courts of Lisbon, unless you are a consumer in a jurisdiction whose laws give you the right to sue locally — in which case those local laws apply. EU consumers also retain access to the Online Dispute Resolution platform. Nothing in this clause overrides mandatory consumer-jurisdiction rules in your country.
